First week thoughts...
After countless hours reading, writing and thinking, We've made it to the end of our first week of module 1. I've decided with these blogs to do a summary of each week if not for myself but also everyone else who just wants an insight into the past week.
I started off this week by forcing myself into a schedule dedicated around allowing time for studying in each day. For me this is really important as I can fit studying around my professional work and really let my mind only focus on one thing at a time. This week was mainly around reading through the handbooks, taking notes and navigating my way around the blogs (which has proven difficult at times!)
One thing that really caught my attention and allowed my mind to wonder whilst reading the handbooks was Kolb's learning cycle. Whilst reading this section it really gave me a lightbulb moment where something just clicked in my mind and I immediately went into thinking of what point I would enter the "learning cycle" and what type of learner I am. Between activists, reflectors and theorists I think there is a category that we can all fit ourselves into but also cross into others. This also led me into breaking down my CV and thinking if or of what type of learner I was at each different stage of my career, a real time to reflect and think which we as performers don't always get.
I also got engrossed into the links between Information, Learning and Knowledge, three words that I knew were connected but coming up with my own reasoning why and how they were connected.
Information- Something that is required for learning
↓
Learning- (muscle memory) putting the information into practice
↓
Knowledge- The experience you gain from learning
Even though I believe as a professional in my practice you never stop learning these words do form some kind of cycle which I am excited and intrigued to look into more throughout this term as well as taking the time to reflect on my own career and dissecting my thoughts further.
